On 22 August 2018, the Federation of Genealogical Societies at their national conference held at Ft. Wayne, Indiana, awarded me the Director’s Award in recognition of the Certification Discussion Group (CDG) and its encouragement of genealogists to become certified and to demystify the process of portfolio submission to the Board for Certification of Genealogists, the certifying body . Angela McGhie, CG, accepted the award on my behalf. She was a facilitator of the program at that time.
I am extremely proud of this award. It was not without some risk that I started blogging about my journey and then, after receiving the credential, launching the Certification Discussion Group.
This would not have been possible without the critical support of the Seattle Genealogical Society and the Board members who have supported it and have worked to make it a reality.
